Hello from a beeb coder

Hi, I've been programming the beeb since I got one in early '82.
I love golden age arcade games and porting them to the beeb to show what could have been done if there was a big enough commercial audience to make it worth while.
Some of my games/ports are here on bbcmicro.co.uk
I am currently working on MoonPatrol, although it has been several months since I did any real work on it.

You can see from the video how I am doing some of the effects and that it still needs quite a bit of work ;)
It will also support NuLA which is a modern palette extender for the BBC Micro:

Whoa that looks great! the paralax effect is really impressive.

I'd not heard of NuLA, but it certainly make the colors look a little 'smoother'

Growing up with the CPC, the Beeb never showed up on my radar back in the day, but I find it one of the easiest 6502 systems to work on these days... I don't own any real hardware at the moment though

Welcome to the forum!

I have to agree! The parallaxing is great! I love the music too.

That looks (and sounds!) great! You should definitely feel encouraged to finish it off! I used to have a BBC B with a 5 1/4" drive and an external DataCentre unit, but I had to let them go last summer before I'd spent any real time with them.
I'd love to give this a play when you've done it.

Looks great!
I got to use a BBC at school back in the early 90's. I'd have loved to had a chance to play a game like that.
I think we had some western game where everyone always died on the trail..

Looks amazing!

I never used the beeb past some BASIC programming lessons in school, and I think the only game I played on it was Chuckie Egg. It's a great machine though and a potentially brilliant gaming platform, so it's good to see it being used to showcase some abilities.
