Screenshots All screenshots are of the original Ep1 on Amstrad CPC... The new V1.666 looks much better! New screenshots coming soon!
Level 1 - Mountains Level 1's theme was Rocky mountains and skeleton enemies. I had the idea of a Spider made out of Skeleton parts, so here is 'Skullder'! The game boss battles have Spoof 'Boss approaching' messages parodying games like Zed-Blade and Blazing Star, in Chibi Akumas they are over long, rambling and completely useless!
Level 2 - Forset Level 2 was based on a forest, with strange Zombies! - The boss is the commercially unstoppable 'ZombiChi' - which is DEFINATELY NOT based on any popular characters out there!
Level 3 - River Every 8 bit game needs a water level! I used the raster effects to make the screen submerge half way through. For the Boss battle I tried to do a common 8 bit trick - faking a 'superlarge' boss which was bigger than the screen!
Level 4 - Caves For Level 4 - I brought out all my 'secret tricks' - The screen colors change depending on what objects or enemies are illuminating the screen - a fire enemy makes the screen colored red - and killing it may blackout the screen! I added an option to use two alternating palettes to fake 'between' colors But Color changes were just the start - Level 4 has two parts! The first scrolls Right to Left - and the second scrolls DOWN! the enemies on the vertical part were inspired by the classic shooter Xenon 2. For the last boss I had something extra special - I used a smaller boss sprite, and a custom version of the 'Star Array' bullet code - using the spare memory for faster code - this 'Omega Array' version was capable of OVER ONE THOUSAND bullets onscreen! (4x256 omega + standard 96 star array)
Cartoon Load screens and cut-sequences in addition to the screens here, Each level has its own 'custscreen', the game has a 14 screen introduction!
